We thank our supporters, host committee members, donors, and stakeholders in helping us actualize Sakhi’s mission. Whether you joined Sakhi in-person, or in-spirit, we are grateful for your commitment to ending violence against women. We cannot do this work without you, our community.

We hope you will join us on April 6th for our gala, Building Resilient Communities, at Cipriani 25 Broadway. This celebration will honor two leaders who have championed gender equity and justice in our community: Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, two time Academy Award and an Emmy Award winner, and Rashmy Chatterjee, Chief Marketing Officer, IBM North America. In addition, Neha Rastogi, former ex-Apple employee, who in 2017 made national headlines for publicly discussing her 10+ years of abuse in her relationship, will be joining us as a special guest.

“I grew up seeing domestic violence in my community and am a survivor myself. Sakhi changed my life, and I wanted to bring the work to my Indo-Caribbean community so that more women like me could be transformed.”

On the heels of the #MeToo and #Timeisup movement, Brown Girl Magazine, Karuna Chani of KC Makeup, and Sakhi for South Asian Women unite to give South Asian women in our community a platform to share their stories and accounts of sexual harassment and assault on Wednesday, March 21st.

Join Sakhi this Tuesday, February 27th for a workshop on masculinity and gender violence. There will be a facilitated discussion covering masculinity, patriarchy, sexual violence, and bystander intervention. This workshop aims to strengthen our understanding of masculinity and power while engaging in a conversation about community accountability.

On Thursday February 22nd, Sakhi hosted a Fireside Chat with author/activist Deepa Iyer to discuss her first book, We Too Sing America. Deepa is a racial justice activist, lawyer, writer, and former Executive Director of South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT).
