On Friday, April 26, 2024 our community came together in New York at The Glasshouse to celebrate 35 years of service at our gala, Threads of Transformation: Resist. Reclaim. Rise.
The evening was truly magical; our honorees Actress & Producer Poorna Jagannathan, Immigrant Rights Activist Mohamed Q. Amin, and Filmmaker Nisha Pahuja, shared their commitments to our vision for survivor justice in a discussion moderated by journalist Narmeen Choudhury. We enjoyed performances by DJ JAG, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma and to cap off the night, we danced to an electrifying performance by Grammy-nominated artist Raja Kumari and beats by Firungi. Over 600 guests, including team members, long-time and new supporters, survivors, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Aasif Mandvi, Sarita Choudhury, Prabal Gurung and Ali Sethi attended the milestone event.
The showstopper of the evening was the full reveal of our new identity as Sakhi for South Asian Survivors, a significant step forward in our mission to represent all survivors. As Sakhi for South Asian Survivors, we continue to center survivors in our work and embrace a more inclusive identity that honors the diversity and strength of all survivors, across all gender expressions and sexual identities.
Because of the collective effort of our community,
we were able to exceed expectations and raised over $1M!
