As a Sakhi supporter, you know how deeply committed we have been for the past 28 years to supporting immigrant survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault as they navigate healing and the complexities of rebuilding after abuse. Right now, Sakhi for South Asian Women stands at one of the most pivotal moments in our organization’s rich history. In this age of heightened sexism, racism, xenophobia, and violence, we are calling upon you, our community, for critical support to continue and expand in the groundbreaking advocacy we have been devoted to for years.
“Resist” has become a rallying cry for progressive movements for social justice over the course of the past year. At Sakhi, we feel it’s critical to not only resistthe discrimination, hatred, and injustice faced by the most marginalized members of our community, but also to actively work to empower those most affected by the current political climate in New York City and beyond.
Join Sakhi to resist hatred and to empower the community we serve: the brave and resilient women who live daily at the nexus of so many pressing issues of today, from Islamophobia and anti-immigrant sentiment, to the rolling back of reproductive and women’s rights.
At Sakhi, we believe that transformative, systemic change takes a commitment to working in collaboration, to amplifying the voices of those who have been left behind, and to letting women and other marginalized communities take the lead. Over the past year, we have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and healing of the women who have walked through our doors seeking services, led workshops and trainings on being an active bystander and supporting Muslim communities, organized over one hundred of you to march alongside us at the New York City Women’s March to protest sexism and misogyny, expanded client mental health and wellness programming, and engaged our supporters through awareness building cultural events and gatherings that hundreds of you attended to learn from one another. With your continuedsupport, we can go even further – hosting more career fairs to help survivors secure employment, providing more mental health care to women in need, and expanding our dynamic community arts events to engage New Yorkers in the fight for gender justice.
By making a tax deductible contribution today, you help provide survivors with the knowledge, access, and tools they need to rebuild their lives. Our goalthis month is to raise $30,000 to deepen our impact on the women we serve.Your impact is real, and the difference is tangible.
