Nonprofit Providers Needed for GetFood Delivery Assistance Program
GetFoodNYC is dramatically growing in capacity and with a goal to deliver one million meals a day, the City is looking to partner with nonprofits to help manage distribution sites, prepare and package meals (particularly culturally-sensitive meals). There is a strong need for support in areas including Washington Heights, Howard Beach, South Ozone Park, Gravesend/Sheepshead Bay, Morris Park, North Shore Staten Island, Flushing, Jackson Heights, Eastchester, and Sunset Park.

The City is currently seeking information about what capacity nonprofit providers would have to participate in the program through potential emergency contracts. View the Request for Interest (RFI) here.

There will be an informational conference call for nonprofits to receive an overview and ask questions. This call will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020, at 3:00PM. Email to register for the call. Visit nyc.gov/nonprofits for more information.

Invisible Delivery
Note: Delivery is free, but order has to be paid for. Invisible Hands is a group of engaged volunteers from communities at the least risk for severe COVID-19 reactions working to bring groceries and supplies to those in high-risk demographics. Here’s how it works: Fill out the “Request a Delivery” form. You’ll get a phone call from a volunteer in your neighborhood who will be completing your delivery, so you can confirm for them exactly what you need and where you need it from. You can choose to pay in one of three ways:

Call the store in advance to place the order and pay with your credit card over the phone, letting them know someone else will be picking it up on your behalf OR Provide your volunteer with cash before they complete the order OR Reimburse the volunteer after they pick up your items. Whatever payment method you select, your volunteer will include your receipt in the delivery bag and leave the bag at your doorstep, ringing your bell so you know it’s arrived.
