Thank you for making Sakhi’s 25th Anniversary Gala a success!
Our 25th Anniversary Gala last Thursday was truly a remarkable and memorable event!
We celebrated this milestone anniversary by gathering and celebrating the people who laid our foundation, the people who uphold our work every day, and those who are taking our work forward into the next 25 years. Urmi Basu spoke about the sisterhood that serves as the bridge between Sakhi’s work in New York to the work to end gender based violence around the world, while Ana Oliveira, President of the New York Women’s Foundation, spoke passionately about the critical need to support and fund organizations like Sakhi that are often the first and only point of resource for countless women in need. The auction was electric – with people outbidding each other in the silent and live to raise $76,435 for Sakhi, plus pledging an additional $23,500 to our scholarship fund! We raised nearly $400,000 at this year’s gala of 400+ guests, enabling Sakhi to assist even more women achieve self-sufficiency, safety, and empowerment and create strong and healthy communities. There were countless memorable moments and deeply moving stories shared about what is at the heart of Sakhi’s work – a community of people supporting survivors of domestic violence. We would like to give special thanks to our Gala Co-Chairs and Benefit Committee, Sponsors, Honorees and Emcee for their generous support. We would also like to convey our deepest gratitude to all of our guests, volunteers, and supporters. You are vital to Sakhi’s mission to eradicate violence against women. We hope to see you at events throughout the year celebrating 25 years of Sakhi, as well as at next year’s gala in May 2015! Click on the photo or here to see more photos from the night! |
