Please join us for a panel discussion in response to the recent news regarding Attorney General Sessions’ decision on domestic violence survivors seeking asylum, the families separated at the border, and the Muslim Ban. This is the second in a two part response organized by three leading women’s rights organizations fighting to end gender-based violence in New York City – Sakhi for South Asian Women, VIP Mujeres, and WomanKind.

Shumita Basu, host, producer and reporter at WNYC, will moderate a panel of experts from diverse professional backgrounds, including immigration law, mental health, grassroots advocacy, and philanthropy. We will explore the legal implications of Attorney General Sessions’ decision, the impact of trauma on immigrants, and how gender-based violence and intimate partner violence factors in.

Additionaly the NYC Commission on Human Rights will have a table with information on resources and protections under the law for survivors of domestic violence.
