As we celebrate our 35th anniversary, we are proud to unveil Sakhi’s new identity:
Why Rebrand?
Founded in 1989, our organization has always been at the forefront of the survivor-led movement against gender-based violence. Over the years, we have witnessed dynamic shifts within the communities we serve and the broader discourse around gender justice. The decision to rebrand reflects our response to these changes, embracing a more inclusive identity that honors the diversity and strength of all survivors of violence, across all gender expressions and sexual identities.
A New Visual Identity for a Broader Mission
Our new visual identity, designed in collaboration with survivors, volunteers, and community members, symbolizes our inclusive approach to direct services and advocacy. The rebrand encompasses not just a change in name but also an extensive update to our visual and communicative elements. Our new logo, a blend of strength and unity represented by circular forms, along with a refreshed color palette, embodies our dedication to providing sanctuary, liberation, and healing.
Culturally Relevant and Inclusive Services
Our services address the complex needs of all South Asian and Indo-Caribbean survivors living in the United States. Our programs include trauma-informed direct services such as a helpline, counseling, advocacy, housing assistance, economic empowerment, food justice, elder abuse intervention, and youth programs. Each service is designed with cultural competency at its core, ensuring that every survivor feels seen, heard, and supported on their journey toward healing and liberation.
A Unified Voice Against Gender-Based Violence
Our rebranding is a declaration of our unwavering dedication to a world where gender-based violence has no place, and the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean diaspora experiences sanctuary, healing, and liberation.
As we embark on this new chapter, we invite you to join us in our mission to shape a more inclusive and just world. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of countless survivors and work towards a future free from violence.
